Timeline of New Urbanism - An online database that records key events in the history of new urbanism, as well as historical influences reaching back to the 19th century. Over nine hundred entries in the categories of Academic, Events, Firms, Governmental, Projects and Publications.


Congress for the New Urbanism -- A membership-based education and advocacy organization. The CNU holds an annual congress of new urban practitioners.

International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture & Urbanism (INTBAU) -- An active network of individuals and institutions creating harmonious buildings and places that respect local traditions.


American Planning Association New Urbanism Division -- Provides information, support, and tools needed to eliminate restrictive conventional development regulations and allow new urbanism patterns to be incorporated in all communities. -- Information and portfolios from numerous charrettes around the United States.

Form Based Codes Institute -- An organization with the goals of setting standards for the practice of Form-Based Coding, education and outreach, and forums for discussion.

Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America -- A national organization advancing the practice and appreciation of the classical tradition in architecture and the allied arts, fulfilling its mission through education, publications, awards, and advocacy.

Knight Program in Community Building

NextGen: Next Generation of New Urbanists -- An organization young professionals, students and others dedicated to advance the new urbanism and prepare its members for the future.

Placemakers -- Design and consulting firm that provides free access to the SmartCode, a model new urbanist code.
